One of the most productive fisheries!

Drift and lift means casting a soft shad-type lure mounted on a lead head, animating it with the rod to lift the lure off the bottom and control the descent. Most of the time, the lure is sucked up by the fish as it descends, producing a "Toc" sound. This type of fishing can be practised from the shore in areas where there is a bottom and current, but is mainly practised from a boat in water depths of between 5 and 20 metres. It is very effective on Sea bass and allows you to go after fish stuck to the bottom. Initially, this technique was practised with much more powerful rods, with big lead heads and big braid. In reality, we realized that the majority of spots were fished with lead heads between 20 and 45g and that a fine line provided more resonance. We refer to this new fishing power as "medium" Drift and lift, as opposed to the heavy pull previously used. On a scale, the combos mentioned below are actually heavier than the power range of the Blanks. There are several reasons for this. Drift and lift is a "slow" action that doesn't put too much strain on the blank, apart from casting, compared with fly fishing, for example. The more a rod is "loaded", the more resonance it offers. And as you have wind, current, depth and salt water (which makes the whole thing float more) at sea, you load more than in freshwater. With the exception of certain very specific fishing spots and conditions, over 45g is often much more effective in vertical/diagonal fishing than in casting. Start configuration

Matching blanks

To use this technique effectively, you need toa long-throwing blank, that is not too steep and with a very good resonance and sensitivity. Sensitivity is defined as feeling the tail vibrate and resonance as 'hearing' the lure hit the bottom. Here's a selection of 6 One-piece blanks perfectly suited to Drift and lift fishing:

Rodbuilders' Republic Statement 7662m28, 10-40g: It's not a very long blank, nor a very powerful one, but it's a very, very tactile one. It's ideal for areas with strong currents, where Drift and lift fishing is akin to Bottom bouncing. Its range of use extends from an 18g Black Minnow to a Nitro shad 120 on 35g TP.
Phenix PHX-C 764 MH 2m28, 15-50g: Excellent value for money for anglers looking for a versatile rod suitable for lures ranging from BM18g to BM40g.
NFC SJ 804-1 Delta :2m43, 10-40g: Delta carbon is a mix of several carbons and fiberglass that gives you a high-performance blank for less than 120€. The low range can be represented by a 10cm shad + 15g TP and at the max a 150 shad + 35g TP or a BM 140 in 40g.
NFC MB 807-1 HM 2m43, 15-50g: The 807 is undoubtedly the ultimate bllank for Sea bass on Drift and lift. It allows you to fish from a 21g TP on a 120 nitro shad to a 42g lead head on the 150 shad. Without forcing the cast, it accepts a 180 nitro shad on a 40g lead head. This blank corresponds to the high range needed in a Sea bass angler's boat.
NFC MB 808-1 HM 2m43, 20-70g: Slightly more powerful than the 807, this 808 accepts 45g lead heads more easily and can occasionally take 60g lead heads. Its low range is represented by a BM25g.
Rodbuilders' Republic PPS80XH2m43, 30-90g: This heavy-duty Drift and lift blank offers excellent value for money. It's perfect for casting big shads on lead heads up to 60g. The MB 809-1 HM could also have been proposed for this same program.
